2017 Northern Design Awards - Best Commercial Landscaping Design.

A joint venture between a private landlord and the local authority brings a much needed refurbishment to an existing housing complex in the coastal town of Barrow in Furness. Working on an existing hard landscape design by Bruno Amador @ FHA , we delivered a conceptual approach and a detailed planting design. Project management, from inception to practical completion.

The idea behind the planting was to give the neighbours an enlarged version of a biodiversity friendly coastal garden. Hydrangeas, roses, day lillies and a number of other flowering species are planted alongside tough evergreen shrubs to ensure an all year round interest. In the main square specimens of Gleditsia triacanthos add vibrancy with their bright canopy. Elsewhere on site, Oaks, Pines and wild Cherry trees bring flowers, autumnal colour and texture.

Special thanks to Britta Herold & Tom Owen for the plant supply and to Phil Townsend for orchestrating it all.
